05 — SURGE / SAAS PLATFORM

Cloud-native monitoring for industrial operations.

Multi-tenant SURGE platform for energy, vessel tracking, water analytics, and SPARING KLHK compliance — purpose-built for industrial scale.

P5 / PRODUCT

INTRODUCTION

Industrial monitoring, built for scale.

Traditional SCADA was built for a single plant. Its assumptions — a fixed I/O list, a known set of operators, a single physical site — break down the moment a customer needs to oversee multiple facilities, a vessel fleet, or a regional operations portfolio. SURGE was built for that second case. It is multi-tenant by design, multi-site by default, and assumes the operator persona may be anyone from a panel-room engineer to a CFO reading a monthly KPI on a phone.

Multi-tenancy goes deeper than a login screen. A single SURGE deployment isolates customers, sites, and roles at the data layer, the API layer, and the dashboard layer. Two customers on the same physical SURGE instance cannot see each other's tags, alerts, or audit trail under any circumstance. Within a customer, roles segment what an operator versus an engineer versus an executive sees. This isolation is what makes SURGE viable as a platform that can carry an enterprise's whole operations portfolio rather than a single plant's instance.

In the Indonesian regulatory context, SURGE intersects three live obligations. KLHK SPARING requires real-time water-quality telemetry from industrial wastewater operations; BKPM permitting increasingly expects auditable operational data; PLN net-metering for PLTS installations requires structured export reporting. Each generates structured data that SURGE captures, normalizes, and reports — turning compliance from a quarterly fire drill into a background hum of the operations layer.

Critically, SURGE does not replace SCADA, DCS, or field-level control. It sits above them. The plant's existing control system continues to do what it does — closed-loop control, safety interlocks, batch sequencing — while SURGE reads from it (or from gateways or directly from sensors) to provide the unified-operations layer above. Customers preserve their existing investment in SCADA while gaining the visibility, multi-site reporting, and compliance automation a traditional SCADA platform was never architected to deliver.

OUR APPROACH

Modular by design, integrated by default.

SURGE is organized around four core modules that customers buy individually or together: Energy Mapping for kWh and carbon accounting, Vessel Tracking for fleet position and fuel consumption, Water Analytics for KLHK SPARING and IPAL operations, and Wastewater Logger for regulated effluent reporting. Each module ships with its own data model, dashboards, alert rules, and report templates, but all four share the same underlying tenancy, identity, and notification infrastructure — so customers running multiple modules have one login, one alert inbox, one user-management screen, and one billing relationship.

Platform features are deliberately enterprise-grade rather than dashboard-grade. SURGE exposes a documented REST API and webhook system for integration with ERP, CMMS, and BI tools the customer already runs. Native mobile applications on iOS and Android deliver alerts, key dashboards, and acknowledgement flows for operators who do not sit at a workstation. White-label deployment is available for partners reselling under their own brand. Multi-channel alerting covers SMS, email, and WhatsApp — important in Indonesian operations where WhatsApp is often the most reliable notification channel. Every action is logged to an immutable audit trail keyed to user, role, and timestamp.

Deployment options match the customer's data-sovereignty posture. The default is cloud-hosted in AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) under SURIOTA's managed-service operation, with 99.9 percent uptime SLA. Customers with strict on-premise requirements deploy SURGE as a Docker or lightweight Kubernetes (K3s) stack on their own infrastructure. Hybrid is increasingly common: sensitive process data stays on-premise, while non-sensitive aggregates and executive dashboards run in the SURIOTA cloud — the customer gets visibility without the regulatory exposure of pushing raw process data outside their facility.

Integration is intentionally undemanding. Any device speaking Modbus RTU or TCP, OPC UA, MQTT, REST, or even just CSV upload can feed SURGE. We do not require customers to rip and replace their existing SCADA, DCS, or historian — SURGE reads from whatever the plant already runs, normalizes the data into its own model, and presents the unified view. Existing investments are preserved; new capabilities accrue on top. This is the architectural principle that makes SURGE viable for brownfield Indonesian industrial sites where ripping and replacing is rarely an option.

Underneath the modules and integrations sits a deliberately conservative technology stack: time-series storage on InfluxDB and TimescaleDB, application layer in Python (FastAPI) and Node.js, web frontends in React, mobile apps in React Native, infrastructure as code in Terraform and Ansible. Every choice prioritizes long-term maintainability over fashion. The platform's customers expect to be running on SURGE in 2035, not on whatever framework was trendy in 2026.

BUSINESS IMPACT

Operations visibility, executive clarity.

The most immediate impact SURGE delivers is consolidation. Customers routinely replace five to ten vendor portals — one for the SCADA, one for the inverter, one for the BMS, one for the smart meter, one for the SPARING console, and so on — with a single SURGE login. One credential, one data definition, one alert inbox. The cognitive load on plant managers and operations directors drops measurably, and the time spent reconciling numbers between vendor portals becomes time spent acting on them.

Compliance automation is the most quantifiable outcome. SURGE Water Analytics produces KLHK SPARING reports in submission-ready format, with the audit trail KLHK auditors expect to see. WWTP customers using SURGE Wastewater Logger have reduced their compliance reporting effort by upwards of 90 percent — what used to be a multi-day monthly exercise becomes a one-click export. The same pattern applies to net-metering reports for PLTS customers and BKPM operational data submissions for regulated facilities.

Cost outcomes are measurable per module. SURGE Energy Mapping customers typically realize 15 to 25 percent reduction in energy spend within twelve months through load-profile optimization, peak-shaving, and HVAC scheduling. SURGE Vessel Tracking customers see 8 to 12 percent fuel savings on monitored fleet through route and idle-time analysis. SURGE Water Analytics customers add the upside of avoiding KLHK penalties — a category of saving that is hard to quantify until the day a violation is averted, at which point it dwarfs the SaaS subscription.

Strategically, SURGE is the data layer that the AI use cases of Pillar 2 build on top of. Every SURGE customer is, by definition, an analytics customer waiting to happen — the data is already clean, already normalized, already labelled by process meaning. The journey from monitoring to predictive analytics to autonomous operations does not require a new platform; it requires turning on additional modules within the platform the customer already runs. This compounding optionality is the long-run reason customers choose SURGE over a one-off SCADA upgrade.
